Gilstrap and Hodge Sweep A-Sun Weekly Awards

Gilstrap and Hodge named Offesive and Defensive POWfor men's soccer and Stetson earned both honors.

Seniors Griffin Gilstrap and Robert Hodge both played extremely well over the weekend to lead Stetson to road wins over Florida International in Miami and Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton. Stetson remains undefeated on the season at 3-0. Gilstrap is the A-Sun Offensive Player of the Week and Hodge is the A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week.

Gilstrap, a forward out of Safety Harbor, Florida had a career game on Friday when he scored two goals and assisted on the game-winning third goal in a 3-2 win over FIU. He remained hot on Sunday and scored the team's only goal in the 1-0 win over FAU. Gilstrap totaled seven points in two games. Prior to this weekend, for his career he had two goals and four assists for 12 points.

Hodge, a defender from Devon, England was instrumental in leading Stetson to a 1.00 goals against average in the two games and helping goalkeeper Logan Potter pick up his second shutout of the season. One of the top defenders in the league, Hodge was voted First Team All-Atlantic Sun Conference last year, and was voted to the A-Sun Preseason All-Conference Team prior to this season. Hodge has won this award once before on November 12, 2007.
